A thoughtful return to a previous project led to a renovation and a revised color scheme. This classic New England form with its multiple buildings melding into one unified structure adopted a more modern interior aesthetic and a subtly more resilience-focused exterior. The interior spaces were refreshed with new colors, woodwork and tile, all introduced while carefully protecting elements intended to remain. The roof was re-clad with a standing-seam metal system that allowed for a solar array to be “clipped on” without penetrating the roof. The goal of creating a home that could be comfortably enjoyed by the owners, their children, and their grandchildren was further advanced by eschewing plastics and by installing systems to keep the home environment clean. “It is difficult to tell if this house was built in the 1800’s or now, it is like an old home that has been really well taken care of.”
