We started in 1972 as a design-build firm (thought + form). The original vision was "build quality homes for the masses." In true 1970's fashion, this was translated as a "Volkswagen House".
A decade later, quality was still at the core, but the formula for marrying genuine, enduring quality to the masses hadn't been solved. The "design" part of our firm was split from the "build" with the idea that working with more architects and refining our craft might illuminate the path... that's how the current version of thoughtforms emerged.
The quest for quality, in what we build, how we build, and how we serve architects and clients, led us deeper into the custom home market. Our design-build roots helped us collaborate with architects in a way that dyed-in-the-wool builders couldn't, and we arrived at the top of the trade: in 2003, thoughtforms was nationally recognized as Custom Home Magazine's Custom Builder of the Year.
Today we continue to innovate, continue to lead the market further into the realm of quality, service and community, and continue to look to the future for opportunities to be more.
